The Waiting Place by Eileen Button
A few months ago I selected the book "The Waiting Place" by Eileen Button from the Thomas Nelson BookSneeze program to review. Upon receiving the book, life happened and my hobby of reading was shelved. I love reading so this was not a good thing for me. Thankfully that didn't last long and I was finally able to read the essays in this book.
I think the title of this book says quite a bit, "The Waiting Place: Learning to Appreciate Life's Little Delays". After all we are all waiting for something or someone at various times in our lives. Also we are, more often than not, delayed while waiting. So what better of a title could there be! I'll be honest and say that the title of the book was what lead me to select this book for review. I really thought that it would be a book that I would enjoy. However, for me that wasn't the case. I found myself struggling to read, relate, and understand what the author was trying to say. Ultimately, it lead me to putting the book aside and not giving it another glance. I like the concept of the book but I would have preferred it as a devotional with a short story followed by some bible verses versus what seemed more like a biography for a woman I do not know.
As I did not read the entire book, I cannot say whether or not I would recommend it. What I can tell you though, is that if you are interested in reading it, check it out from the library or borrow it from a friend.
